Ryan S. Thomason

I use rich colour juxtapositions and energetic, unpredictable methods to produce art that is full of energy, vitality and expressive movement. Chance and uncertainty in my use of media is important to my work, as I seek to use methods that eschew excessive control. Forms that emerge in my work frequently include those from the side of the natural world hidden from everyday view, in particular deep-sea animals and microscopic creatures. It is this interest in depicting the unseen, and making uninhibited marks that deal solely with composition and colour, that led me to abstract expressionism.
